On Friday 23 October at 6 pm, Comptoir des Mines Galerie in Gueliz opens "Les Sentiers de l'Intranquillité", a solo exhibition by Hassan Bourkia, on view until 19 December, as part of the AMY Art Meets You art weekend. A group exhibition is also on view in the gallery's Yougoslavie room, on the first floor.
The exhibition is built around literature, memory and everyday objects. Books, typewriters, radios and cameras collected over time become carriers of individual and collective histories, in dialogue with the movements that crossed the twentieth century. At its centre is the library, once a fixture of the home and now displaced by screens, which here becomes the structure, the material and the subject of the work.
Ash recurs throughout, a reminder of burned books and destroyed libraries, but also of what survives them. The writers Bourkia returns to, often marked by exile, censorship or solitude, run through the new mixed-media wall installations, among them "Le souffle de l'image (Tombouctou)", "Silence des livres" and "Bibliothèques invisibles".

Born in El Ksiba in 1956, Hassan Bourkia is a writer, translator and visual artist who has exhibited in Morocco and abroad since 1990. His work explores memory, the tragedies of immigration and the suffering caused by conflicts around the world.
