Overview
Riad Dar Saad started as a single traditional house in the Medina. In 1988 an artist and architect fell for Marrakech and kept coming back; fifteen years later he bought his first riad, a home built around a central garden. Today, in the Dar El Bacha quarter, it spreads over several interlinked houses, each keeping its own intimate mood. Art, colour and craft run through every space, a mix of Moroccan tradition, personal objects and original work, shaped by the artistic vision of Jean Claude and his love of bright colour and unusual design. The double rooms circle a first courtyard full of plants. Louisa has red walls and a labyrinth of a shower, while Ksar is a riad within the riad, with its own patio pool for up to six. Arrival comes with tea and pastries handmade on site. Breakfast comes from a menu that runs to msemen, beghrir and jben, served on the terrace or by the pool. The restaurant cooks traditional Moroccan dishes with fresh local produce, and the rooftop café keeps a seat in the sun or in the shade. Les Bains de Ninon, the in-house hammam and spa, works with black soap, rhassoul, rose water and argan oil, and opens to outside visitors as well.
