So Lounge Marrakech

Overview

Moroccan lanterns light the open-air terrace where the evening begins, in the gardens of the Sofitel Marrakech Palais Impérial & Spa in Hivernage. So Lounge is a restaurant, a bar and a club, and the night moves through all three. Dinner already has music around it. Then the show takes over: live bands, Gnaoua musicians, dancers and DJ sets, with a new act every half hour, on the terrace or inside the nightclub. Inside, the club mixes modern design with oriental touches, and a resident DJ, joined by guest DJs, keeps the dancing going under the light shows until the early hours. The restaurant and bar go by the name So Nice, with Thai and Asian cooking by Chef Zong. Tom Yum Kung and sushi assortments sit beside a Peking duck and the Crying Tiger, a grilled New York steak, while the house specialty is a vegetable curry with coconut milk and basmati rice. The kitchen names its sources, from small-scale fishing off Agadir to beef from Tlat Sidi Bennour. Signature cocktails include the Spicy Marrakchi, shisha is served, and children from 4 to 12 have their own menu.
