El Fenn - Pool

Overview

El Fenn, a boutique hotel in the Medina, keeps three swimming pools among its interconnected buildings, four if the small plunge pool on the roof is counted. On the 1,300 square metre roof terrace, the pool runs 13 metres and is heated to 24 degrees, with day beds alongside for a cocktail or a bar snack. The view runs across the rooftops of the medina to the Koutoubia and the Atlas Mountains, and the rooftop bar and restaurant share the same terrace. Downstairs the setting turns green. The ground-floor lap pool, 12 metres lined with Carrara marble, lies in a courtyard of tumbling vines and jungle-like foliage, so shade is never far. It was built in 2007 where two small modern houses once stood, and the Colonnade Cafe sits in the same space, while a private dining room on the same floor looks out over the water. The third pool belongs to the spa: 8 metres, heated all year and lined with cacti, made in 2005 from a former courtyard, with spa guests free to take a dip before a treatment. For children there is also a plunge pool 70 centimetres deep, and the striped pool towels are a signature of the house.
