Overview
Palais Jad Mahal has held its place in Hivernage since 2005, and in twenty years it has settled into a role few venues in Marrakech attempt: restaurant, lounge bar, dinner show and late-night party under one palatial roof. The building follows traditional Moroccan palace architecture, arranged around a central patio where pools catch the light and fountains set a low murmur from the moment you step through the door. Carved wood panels, painted ceilings and zellij-topped tables meet Indian accents in jewel-toned fabrics, shimmering lanterns and richly coloured drapery. The kitchen works across three registers, with French bistro classics, traditional Moroccan dishes and Thai staples on the same menu, while the lounge bar pours signature cocktails. Doors open at 7.30pm every night, and the show runs through dinner without interrupting the service, different each evening: belly dancers in embroidered costumes, fire breathers and acrobats first, then a cabaret act with feathered choreography and Gnawa musicians. Later in the night a live band takes the stage with pop, rock and Oriental influences, the tables empty onto the floor, and resident DJs close the night at 2am. For those who want to keep going, Babouchka, the nightclub next door, picks up from there. It is at its best for groups and celebrations, any evening where food, spectacle and collective energy are the entire point.
